Children & Cat Safety Policy
We welcome guests of all ages at Espurresso Cat Cafe. However, the safety and wellbeing of our cats always come first. Children must interact gently and respectfully with the cats at all times and remain under close adult supervision.
If a child becomes distressed, overly excited, or if the environment becomes stressful or unsafe for the cats or other guests, our staff may determine that the space is no longer suitable at that time. In such cases, we may kindly ask guests to step out or end their visit early to ensure a calm and safe environment for everyone.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to protect the comfort and wellbeing of our rescue cats. Espurresso Cat Cafe reserves the right to end any visit if guest behavior negatively impacts the cats or the shared environment.

WHY ARE THE CATS SLEEPING OR NOT PLAYING?
Cats naturally sleep 12–16 hours per day, and their activity levels vary depending on their mood, age, and daily routine. Because Espurresso Cat Cafe is a rescue environment, our cats are free to rest, play, or socialize whenever they choose. Some visits may be more playful, while others may be calm and relaxing.
Many guests actually enjoy quiet moments spent petting or relaxing beside a sleeping cat — which can be a wonderful way to de-stress. Please note that interaction with cats cannot be guaranteed, as their comfort and wellbeing always come first. Thank you for understanding and respecting the cats’ needs while they wait for their forever homes. 🐾
At Espurresso Cat Cafe, many of our cats tend to rest during the afternoon hours, usually between 1 PM and 5 PM. During this time you may see more cats napping or relaxing quietly. This can actually be a great time to visit if you want a calm and peaceful experience, relax with a cup of coffee, or gently pet a sleepy cat.
Later in the day and closer to evening, many cats become more active and playful again. And of course… every night the cats have their own little party, running around, playing, and burning off their energy after the café closes!
*Our cats are not performers, they are rescued animals waiting for homes.
CAN I GIVE TREATS TO THE CATS?
Yes! We offer cat treats available for purchase at the café. To protect the health and safety of all our cats, please follow our feeding guidelines:
Please do not feed treats to kittens.
Offer only a small amount per cat so everyone has a chance to share.
Treats are limited daily to prevent overfeeding.
Each guest group may purchase a maximum of two treat sticks per visit.
Our staff may provide guidance on which cats can safely receive treats. Thank you for helping us keep our rescue cats happy and healthy!
WHY DO SOME CATS WEAR COLLARS? ARE THEY AGGRESSIVE?
Some cats in our café wear collars to help staff identify cats who may be more sensitive or easily overstimulated. These cats are not mean or unfriendly — many of them are loving and affectionate. However, like people, some cats have personal boundaries and may become uncomfortable with too much handling or sudden interaction.
Occasionally, a sensitive cat may swat or react if they feel overwhelmed. This behavior does not mean the cat is aggressive; it simply means they need a little more space and gentle interaction. If you see a cat wearing a collar, we kindly ask guests to approach calmly, allow the cat to come to you first and avoid excessive petting or picking them up.
Our staff are always happy to guide you on how to safely interact with each cat. Thank you for helping us respect every cat’s personality and comfort level.
WHO ARE THE “CAT MANAGERS” ?
You may notice that some of our cats are called “Cat Managers.” They earned this title because they are actually the owner’s cats and help supervise the café in their own special ways.
Bob – The Gentle Manager
Bob is incredibly gentle and patient. He often helps take care of the kittens and keeps them company. Many of the babies treat him like their cat mom, following him around and cuddling with him. He’s truly the sweet caretaker of the café.
Stormy – The Chaos Manager
Stormy, on the other hand… is a little troublemaker. He loves to play-fight with everyone and tends to bother almost every cat in the room. Don’t worry though — it’s all playful energy. He’s just a carefree, mischievous cat who likes to stir things up.
Together, they help keep the café lively and entertaining for both cats and guests!
A RESCUE ENVIRONMENT
Espurresso Cat Cafe is first and foremost a rescue space for cats waiting for their forever homes. Our cats are not performers — they are rescued animals with unique personalities, moods, and routines. Some may be playful and social, while others may prefer to rest or observe quietly. Because of this, interaction with cats cannot be guaranteed during every visit.
Your visit helps provide a safe, loving temporary home for these cats while they wait to be adopted. Every cup of coffee, every visit, and every moment spent here helps support their care and future. Thank you for supporting rescue and choosing adoption.
NEW TO CATS?
If you are new to interacting with cats or have never spent time with them before, we encourage you to ask our staff for guidance.
Our team will be happy to show you the best and safest ways to approach, pet, and interact with the cats, so both you and the cats can have a comfortable experience.
If you would like to learn more about any of the cats — their personalities, habits, or adoption information — please feel free to ask our staff for introductions and recommendations. We’re always happy to help you get to know our rescue cats better!

Adoption Information
CAN I ADOPT A CAT?
Yes! All cats in our café are rescue cats available for adoption through our nonprofit partner shelters. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application directly through our partners:
For Animals Inc
https://www.foranimalsinc.com/
Purrific Home
https://www.purrifichome.org/
*We believe rescue is a lifelong responsibility. We do not recommend filling out the adoption application during your visit. Please take some time to think it over carefully before making your decision. Adoption is a long-term commitment.
HOW DOES THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORK?
Applicants must complete an adoption application and speak with shelter representatives before approval. All adoption decisions are handled directly by our partner shelters. Espurresso Cat Cafe does not approve or process adoptions. However our café staff could help with introduce the cats, share personality information, and explain how to apply for a cat.
I SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION BUT HAVEN’T RECEIVED A RESPONSE
Our partner shelters are volunteer-run nonprofit organizations. Response times may vary. We are happy to leave a note for the shelter, but adoption decisions and communication are handled solely by the rescue organizations. Thank you for your patience as they work hard to find the best homes for the cats.
